A TRAIN TO DERANGEMENT

I sat still and silent, frozen in the moment
Reliving the effect his brutal words had on my quivering body

Gina cascaded through the train station
Mocking my tears with her flaxen hair
Twirling her umbrella around and around
Like the wheel of fortune
As I watched him lace his fingers through hers
I finally caught the glimmer of the diamond

When I heard the shrieking
It startled me

It was not until the station attendant came to me
Put his hand on my trembling arm
And escorted me to the back of the room
That I realized the noise was flying forth from my mouth

I was all noise
A cacophony of emotion
Though my senses were crippled

The tears burned
Distorting my vision
The sound of Gina's heels
Clickity clack on the porcelain floor
Filled my ears
So that I could hear nothing else
Save for his words
Resounding over and over again
In my head

When a man leaves you
You never know how badly it will hurt
When a sister betrays you
It can drive you insane
