THE SADDEST SONG

I can hear,
the man on the street,
Violin at his chin,
And cap at his feet,

Plays a song,
Makes me cry,
Of love that is gone
And happier days that went by,

I run through the street,
And people stare
I run through the rain,
And they look
I don't care,

And that first line
The line of the song
Makes me want to run back
And say I was wrong

Just dance through the street with me,
Dance through the crowd,
Sing me a love song,
Sing it a loud,

Tell me if the ground fell in
You wouldn't really care
Cause as long as you had me,
You'd just walk on air,

Let's dance though fields of daffodils,
And roll in all the flowers,
Let's just keep on dancing
For hours and hours,

The man plays on,
As all the world go by
But he doesn't seem to notice
And he doesn't see us cry
