CRAZY

It's like the world's gone crazy,
at least that's what it seems,
the tide's no longer rising,
I'm living in a dream,
the dog won't chase the cats no more,
the birds don't want to fly,
the plumber fixed the broken light,
the moon's not in the sky.
I'm standing on the ceiling floor
and singing a sad song,
the one that says you never left,
that you're not really gone.

I plucked the thorn
and cursed the flower,
I drove away from home,
and brought our picnic to the beach,
but ate it all alone.
I tried to paint a picture,
but the trees did not have leaves
and wondered why the sun was cold
and winter followed spring.
I called your name,
I woke the dead,
I pleaded with the sea
to tell the truth I would not hear
and bring you back to me.

I hold my breath,
I sleep at dawn
and never lose my keys,
it's like the world's gone crazy
with you not loving me
