UNRETURNED AFFECTIONS

Inquisitive green eyes layed upon my features;
My stillness seemed to irritate;
I lay staring beyond him and the sky.
My sentiment toward him was fallacious
For he adores as I love another.
The spoken phrase he repeated,
"I desire your warmth."
The very words turned my stomach
For my affections were for another.
My lachrymose condition now noted
He wiped the tear from my heated cheek
And he held me close
Placing one last kiss upon my brow.
Evermore would he lament my unreturned attachment.
