MY LION PRIDE
she moves stealthily through the open field
knowing perfectly well how she blends in
her golden fur glistening in the sunlight
he lies underneath the foliage on a hill
a contrast against the green and the
pure blue of the sky
he licks his right paw, gently
gazing all around the veldt
she cannot tell if he sees her
whether or not he acknowledged her presence
she used to always know when his eyes
found her
quiet continues to envelop the infinite plain
he has not roared in months
and she refuses to
faint reverberations of their last roars can
still be felt
their silence is deafening
yet it could never be loud enough
though its rulers are present
the field will remain forever silent
