mallet for kindness;
a delusion of candlelight
on my part.
a misconstrued
distorted illusion of you
standing in the shadow
of an iron gate, flowing
smiling, waiting
to see how much blood has
been spilled on your
behalf.
how many have gone blind.
taking the ones with the least
sight,
drinking the shallowest;
taking the ones with the most
hope,
poisoning the deep;
standing, flowing
smiling waiting
to watch the wars collect
around your slim ankles.
